Hey all,

For a VCO that  uses 1 volt per octave tuning is there a 'standard' (i.e. most widely used) for what note (or how many Hertz) 1 volt would/should be?

I thought initially it would be 1 octave above 0Hz (genius!) - but apparently the SH101 (and others) had 1 volt sitting at C3? - and now I'm told that some synths might have based it on A (as in A3/440Hz) - not C.

...or is it generally just the case that any given VCO will have a certain number of useable/stable octaves and then you calibrate/tune it based on a) the musical range you're most likely to be using and/or b) whatever your CV controller is capable of outputting?

Reason I'm asking is that I've got an oscillator here that I'd like to try and get logarithmic voltage control over so I can use my Philip Rees Little MCV to control it via MIDI.

Obviously I can can transpose and switch keyboard ranges in my sequencing program and the MCV will let me fine tune over approx 4 octaves, which should be fine no matter what range I go for - guess I'm just curious about what people here are using.
