At Pickled Feet (http://pickledfeet.com/workshops.php) we've done stuff
with using homemade dielectric caps (i.e. two pieces of tinfoil with
paper in between, or a film can filled with saltwater and copper tape
around the outside) as well as petri dishes filled with gelatin as a
resistor, or graphite on paper. Usually these are connected to a simple
Schmidt trigger oscillator. This can become very performative. Alligator
clips are always your friend...
