[sdiy] What kind of synth is this?

That photo ran in Keyboard magazine, I think around 25 years ago. I was in
my teens and discovering synthesizers at the time. That photo just did me
in--the notion of a modular synth that huge gave me the worst case of
gear-lust. I never quite got over it, and some 20 years later I started
building a modular of my own. It's not as big as that one but it does the
job.
