Rick,

You may have to squirt a little wd40 or other light lube 
underneath..have someone hold it while you spare upside down so it runs 
down in the knob rather than in the pot.   Then lift and wiggle...I've 
used dental pics to curl undneath the knob and leverage pressure right 
on the center of the shaft.  While Pulling on the outside that always 
seems to do it pretty much.  As I recall you have D shaped pot shafts 
with those nasty tight metal inserts on the knobs on those.  It's been a 
while though.  If you don't see set screws or removeable tops w/ collets 
then that has to be it pretty much I think. -Bob
