[sdiy] SSM2040

Well, I have never used these, in fact they're sealed in an envelope
marked "Organ Service Corporation" with a staple and sealed by a
sticker. But I did own one of the JH-designed MOTM-<some number here>
modules that was supposed to be a recreation, and I agree, best
filter I have ever heard. But Juergen and Rene have both put their
efforts to recreate this chip on the net, what the hell have I ever
given the community. Why not give up the old stuff for keeping a few
of these glory-day synths alive, and continue to leach off the work
of the brilliant designers here. :-)

Maybe I could trade them for a Prophet that needs them, "Gifts of the
Magi"-style.

I'd prefer to trade them for some old sound-making thingy with soul.
I don't get to build too much in the synth realm these days, spending
my time servicing tube amps, many times for some guy that wants his
amp to sound like some hair band from the eighties. I charge them
double so I can give a break to the guys into bands like "Sigur Ros"
or "Tapes 'n' Tapes" or "Sky Cries Mary."

I guess I am hesitant for the same reason I would be if a guy came in
with a pristine 1968 Plexi and said "Mod this to sound like Poison."
