[sdiy] Roland MKS-50 chorus mods

Does anyone know of anyone doing any mods to the true stereo chorus on the
MKS-50? I've been thinking at least of making a 1U patch/control panel for
it to be able to control more than the rate.

The thing is the BBD's they're using are MN3009's which are 256-stage BBD's.
I'd like to try a couple of MN3004's (512-stage) but I don't have any. I
thought about using MN3007's and using smaller caps for the BBD clocks. This
seems like a good idea because I can here a faint "squip squip squip" from
probably the clocks interacting and putting audible difference frequencies
in the mix. It's not that bad, but it seems logical that using much higher
clock frequencies should make this problem less pronounced, or have I got it
backward and this is why they're using such a small BBD? I figured it was
for the S/N ratio more then anything. This synth is really a great unit so I
can't really complain, but having the PG300 and maybe my own homebrew row of
knobs to tweak would make it extra superb.

I'm glad I found the service manual online.
