When I recently opened my HiFi Amp (Sony T FA-190) to change some capacitors
in the phono section, I noticed a very clever way of input source switching:
There was a slide switch next to the input connectors on the rear, a rotary
knob on the front panel, and a flat, plastic connection that obviouly works
like a Bowden cable, which transfered the rotary motion of the knob into a
lateral motion which moves the slide switch.
To make things even better, the connection of this Bowden thing to the slide
switch was easily removable.
I've never seen something like that before (but then again I didn't look
inside HiFi stuff for 20 years).
Big question: Are such parts available anywhere, for us DIY people ??
