QTC= Quantum Tunnel Composite

Its a way of creating a substance that changes resistence depending on
pressure. Essentially, small channels are crafted into the material during
manufacture.

go to www.peratech.co.uk for more information.

I personally wouldnt use QTC to facilitate velocity sensing (if thats what
you meant). I would use optical arrangement (optical sensors or even
interuptors and transistor output sensors). The QTC pills are fine for
aftertouch however.

It doesnt matter if there is variance from one key to the next, because
ideally you should map the analogue output of each key inside a pic or
microprocessor. All you need to do is write in some diag code so that when
you enter diag mode, you press each of the keys / pedals once and the mpu /
mcu maps from initial value to final value for each key and maps
accordingly.

the QTC will withstand a phenomenal compression. Just make sure that
whatever is compressing the pill is flatish so that distribution is
reasonably equal. A sharp edge or pointed object will damage them. I found
felt to do the job nicely.

Alternatively, qtc cable is a very quick and easy way of achieving basic
aftertouch.
