Some advice on this combination: The prophet 64 cart probably sounds
best on a Commodore 64C computer, using the 8580 chip instead of the
6581. It's 303 emulator just doesn't work for me without the added
resonance that the 8580 has. Since the SX-64 is essentially a classic
64, it can't run with an 8580 chip (without modifying - the 8580 runs
off of a different voltage).
Also, the SX64 screen is way too small for the prophet64 GUI. Really
hard to see. You can hook it to an external monitor, but the graphics
output is weak, dark, and nearly illegible on larger screens too.
That said, an SX64 with a midi-cartridge and software like D-64 is a
nice combination. Get a SX-64 and revive it for fun, just don't bank
on loving how it performs with prophet64. If you're wed to the
prophet64 cartridge, you might want to think about getting a 64C and
doing this to it:
