we've had this debate a short time ago here on sdiy, it's not a good
feeling with the encoders, i know. but what about 360deg pots?
apparently alesis used them for ion/micron... a normal pot that
doesn't stop at 270 degrees, but continues to 360 and then the
resistance drops back to zero... i'm not exactly sure how it works
mechanically, but obviously it does. i've been looking for 360deg pots
on farnell and i found some. although i'm not certain that it's the
right thing (maybe it stops at 360deg?)
i snapped a photo of how it would look, to get the general feeling
about the dimensions. also, in the second photo you can see a display
that is half as short, but lit on that one's 2x20 and is used for 5
sections (each one 4 columns) - my idea is to set 10 columns per
section, you can try to imagine, i set two knobs above the display.
