Thanks. Reading through that a few things came to mind:

* "Won't someone please think of the children?!"
* "We must do something: this is something so we must do this."
* Another case of unintended consequences.
* Medical devices exempt from ROHS. Ironic?
* Glad I've got about 5lbs of 0.032 * 0.025 63SN/37PB solder.
* It's all a Chinese plot - in a few years the entire western world 
shorts out and they take over without firing a shot. :)
* Someone's going to make a lot of money solving this problem.

I'm not cynical.
