This could sure be done with National Instruments LabView. Although
in the latest version this is a quite expensive program, there was a
free (older) version on a DVD that came with the German computer mag
c't a few months ago. The DVD contains only the Windows version, Mac
(OS 9) and Linux versions can be downloaded here:
