this is just my opinion, but why not take a slightly different approach :
the 160 * 100mm board would be a motherboard with some "management"
circuitry (VC-mix, VC filter selection, etc) and a bus, and each filter
would
be on a daughterboard... This way everyone could choose which filter he
wants (and possibly have several copies of the same filter) while the
management circuitry would offer all generic control facilities, no matter
which
filters have been implemented by each user...
I'm writing this at lightspeed but I hope I made it clear...
