Amen to that! Once I finally understood how all the note division actually
works, and that the 'master oscillator' is only running at a couple of
hundred kilohertz, it amazes me that it makes any sound, in tune, at all.
Plus the fact that you don't actually listen to the master oscillator (a
good old '555!), but the VCO in a 4046 PLL (which is how it can have glide,
rather than step changes in pitch that all the division gives you) - pretty
ingenious stuff.
