[sdiy] Hammond on ebay, broken

I got you Roy. I am gonna refrain from the Lighter fluid/WD40 thing
for now because
I really honestly cannot say how old the postings I saw are.

I have tried adding the Hammond Oil while turning the mechanism but
even after a few tries my organ is not running at full steam. All my
notes are off and the vibrato is all wrong. The gum in the capillaries
is apparently too stubborn for this to help.

When I oil the tone generator the oil flows neatly through one cup in
about 15 seconds but the other cup it sits for hours. I can feel the
resistance when I turn it by hand and though I have no way to verify I
know by touch the problem is in the half of the generator that gets
oiled by the cup with the slow drain. I can tell one side is not
getting the oil. Just the same as when I work on the engine of my '67
Ford Econoline.

The resistance is enough that the vibrato won't start without a push
on it's pulley.

It's obvious that I need something to break up the gum on the bad half
of my generator. I don't want to go on bad advice but once again, with
my old Ford I can usually break up the friction with WD40 and then
lubricate with the proper compound afterward.

Honestly there are differences between the old Hammond and my old van
but the similarities are remarkable!

Maybe lighter fluid and WD40 can work wonders on a Ford but why would
people post that this is effective for a Hammond when real Hammonds
cost 4 grand? My poor old Econoline is only worth $400 in comparison
