[sdiy] isolation transformer from a transient supressor

Most of the larger copy machines from yesteryear had big 15 amp
isolation transformers built into them. I built and isolation box from
a Savin copier transformer once and it worked great.

This transformer I used was about 20 pounds. Very heavy customer. If
the one your looking at isn't this big then it may just be a choke.
If it is an isolation transformer be sure to load test it before
building a project around it. Put a fuse on it's input and a circuit
breaker on it's output along with some transient suppressors and you
should be alright.
