[sdiy] PCB Design Software?

I've tried Eagle and Orcad, and hated them both. Finding a PCB
package I can actually work with is a problem remaining to be solved.
They both feel like packages that have been ported from one system to
another for about the last ten years, each time adding more
"features" and menus and layers on top of the accretion that is there
already. Ugh! Time to rewrite from scratch the modern way, instead of
reusing and reusing the old code.
