Hi folks,

I've noticed that it takes a long time to see my own posts here, and
sometimes they don't turn up even though I get responses to them.

I also noticed that I get a *lot* of off-list replies to my questions.
This is good (I usually get a ton of great feedback), but I always
wonder if the posts were meant for the list and I just don't see them
there. I usually answer these posts back on-list unless they are deeply
personal (makes you all wonder what goes on behind the scenes, doesn't
it...). This is because I know someone, somewhere will eventually have
the same question I did, and they might be able to find the answers easier.

But it makes me wonder if there's some "duplicate postings setting" that
I haven't checked somewhere.

Under:

http://dropmix.xs4all.nl/mailman/options/synth-diy

I have:

Receive your own posts to the list? = Yes
Avoid duplicate copies of messages? = No

So my questions are...

Is this normal?
Am I missing seeing posts on the list?
What is the default setting of this list (i.e. private reply vs reply to
list or reply to all)?
Do many people tend to reply offlist here, for whatever reasons, i.e.
short reply, don't want to take up space, dumb question, obvious
answer... ;-)
Should I reply on-list to offlist answers if they seem relevant?

I know all this is simple netiquette stuff, but it looks to me like the
reply-to mechanisms of this list are different from most I'm on.

thx+best,
d.
