I don't think I'd reduce the summing resistors THAT much. Why don't
you try tacking another 100k in parallel with the existing resistors?
This gives an effective resistance of 50k, which should double the max
modulation amount. I think this would easily allow you to sweep
the VCOs over the entire audio range. This is also easily reversible
if you want to try another value or even decide you don't like it.
I've got to admit this has never been one of my complaints with the
Ody, but to each his own. BTW, don't use too much heat when soldering
on an Ody. The old single-sided board will lift traces if you're not
careful.
