Right, but that's the extreme. Obviously that's not going to work at
all. The article that was linked was not talking about that type of
fraud, however. I've also seen this discussion before especially in
regard to power transistors.
So nobody has observed any attempts to provide working, but
substandard/unofficial, synth chips then?
I think that it's quite a claim to say "watch out for this guy because
he's a fraud" when there isn't any real evidence of that. I just
looked and he is the guy selling 2044s for low prices and we have
reports right here that there's nothing wrong with them. Have some
people ordered delay chips and got something else? How do you know
that the seller wasn't also defrauded?
