If they're like the Fatar actions I've seen, it's a grey rubbery
"bubble" over each key contact which houses two conductive rubber
dots, corresponding with two printed contacts on the keyboard PCB.
These dots are sequentially depressed by two plastic fins molded into
each key, from which the keyscan board can extract velocity info based
on the timing between the two contacts closing. In my experience it's
a pretty robust action and easy to clean, although things like stage
smoke and windblown dust can cause trouble if any of that crud works
its way under the bubble.
