Capacitor discharge is one of the more dangerous ways to get hurt because
the transient current is very high. But the most common cause of injury is
the startle reaction. Even a small discharge can cause you to jump
backwards, lose your balance, etc. It pays not to have a pile of golf clubs
or a sack of ball bearings on the floor behind you if this happens.
I remember the time a friend of mine accidently grabbed both wires of a
furnace transformer...
