Dear Gil W,
I think that you do need to be careful about static with the earlier
ic's as I think I did manage to damage an ic when I was working on a
prophet a couple of years ago, by what could have been a static discharge.
I know that many years ago I was repairing a different P5 and one of
the power supply rails had failed.
I had to change a lot of the ic's that were fed from this rail including
I think the 4016's.
I think that tant capacitors aren't always the most reliable capacitors.
regards Peter
P.S. I think it is a very good idea not to put the cem and ca chips in
until the rest of the synth is working ok.
