Perforated metal,  and on it were mounted four _big_ resistors,  the ceramic 
cored type,  almost as wide as the panel.  Apparently originally 10 ohms 
each,  they were the type with the sliding tap and each was adjusted to 8 
ohms,  and connected up to a set of binding posts.  I have some zip-cord 
wires with dual banana plugs for using it,  and you could parallel two 
channels worth of it and pump 300 watts into each channel for hours on end 
and it wouldn't mind it a bit,  while warming your lunch on the top of the 
rack at the same time.  :-)

Sold that thing a few years back,  figuring that I wouldn't be working on 
power amps any more (I haven't),  for about 250% of what I paid for it.  :-)
