If I understand the circuit correctly from your description, no.  It 
doesn't phase-reverse or do anything stupid like that as long as there 
is no feedback path.  If there is a feedback path, the inputs should be 
protected from going out of their specified range; like with some 
resistors (that should already be there) and two antiparallel diodes to 
keep the max. differential voltage and/or max. input current in check.
