Hey Daryl,

Welcome back (my friend, to the hobby that never ends. Ladies and
gentlemen, building your own synthesizer!).

Anyway, for mini jacks (3.5mm), I and several others on the list like
the Kobicon switching jack from Mouser. Part #16PJ012 (hex nut style).
For 1% resistors, I like Futurlec's prices, but if I'm ordering parts
from someone (like the jacks from Mouser) I'll just go ahead and get
the resistors from the same source because what I might save on the
price of the resistors from Futurlec, I'll just spend in shipping if I
order from two different sources. Digi-Key is a good source, but they
don't carry the jacks, pots and knobs that I like. As far as "better
prices, faster service, etc." you'd be hard pressed to beat companies
like Mouser and Digi-Key.

For ICs, start with TL072 and TL074 op amps. There are some better
chips for certain purposes, but these will work just fine for a
surprising number of synth circuits.

Hope this helps!
