Hey Tony,

There's an interesting thread on the Electro-Music forum about a
battery-powered sequencer for the Sound Lab synth.

You'll want to check the whole thread for any mods or updates, but the
basic schematic and other info are there. Also, if all you really want
is 8 steps, try a 4022, as this is the eight output version of the
4017 (otherwise identical, I believe). Hopefully this will get you
started.
