Yes and no, that will give half wave rectification and the regulators
will go dearly hot even with large reservoar capps.(depends on current
offcourse).

Im not talking about a switched supply, im talking about a 12v AC
wall wart blob feeding a a tiny 1:1 transformer. Sinus in sinus out,
then secondary's feeds the standard linear regulators.

Btw the Voyager uses a switched supply.
