It was actually intended as a itsy tiny bit of a joke
if you read the begining of the chladni pages. :-)
(the chladni test was used to distinguish hand made
from serially robot made units).
However it was also sort of trick question, so how do
you do it with a synth that has no vibrating surface?
The simples solution are, you take a large coil,
feed by a power amp, the power amp gets it signal
from the synth, inside the coil you pour some magnetic
fluid.
You can off course use several coils if you want to.
