Yeah, RME make great hardware - I've used their stuff for years.  Their 
PCI cards (and ASIO drivers) are rock solid stable, and I like that my 
card outputs/inputs optical digital only, then the conversion to/from 
analog is done well away from the noisy PC environment.  Kind of a shame 
to have lots of lovely analog synths if you can't record and play them 
back accurately .. at least that was my philosophy when choosing a PC 
audio interface.
