[sdiy] Analysis of frequency variation in analogue synths

Personally I would think that using a computer to analyse the waveform
would be the most sensible route to take here. Of course is goes
without saying that one should use a *good* audio interface, preferably
clocked at 88.2kHz or above.

With a good audio interface it really is quite impossible with the human
ear to tell the difference between a live analog synth and a recording
of an analog synth. This kind of implies that the useful information
that makes the analog synth sound 'analog' is not lost by the conversion
to and from digital. I has to be said that I do have a fairly high end
audio interface that is well known for not adding any character of its
own to the sound:

But I would have thought that most modern studio quality audio
interfaces would be good enough for this kind of analysis.
