Showing my advanced age, I know of these and as a youngster I used to scavange them
out of TV and radio sets put out on the curb on trash day.
Yes, this is several caps in one can. There may or may not be common internal
connections, often the negative terminals of the internal caps share a common
terminal. The ones I used were usually about an inch or so in diameter and 2 to 3
or so inches long. Often there were a letter marks on the plastic disk at the
bottom, the letters were also stamped into the case as a legend to relate the MFDs
that corresponded to each internal cap.
I'm sure you know you could DIY manufacture a suitable set of caps out of modern
parts as long as you respect the voltage and uF values.
