[sdiy-interim] 3.5mm jack sockets?

Hey all,

Thanks for the recommendations on 3.5mm jack sockets. I had my head
in pure theory mode when I asked, and totally forgot about stereo
3.5mm sockets. Oops. :-) In case you're all wondering, this is for my
"magic bus" based multiple and bussing system. I didn't want to switch
a relay as per Cynthia's suggestion because I want the boards to be
completely passive. I also want this to be universal should anyone
else have interest in these boards - so I built in an option to have
1/4" jacks on the top side of the board, and 3.5mm jacks on the
bottom. That way either set of jacks can be installed depending on the
type of modular this goes in to. The only thing precluding the use of
some better jacks than Cliff right now is the PCB placement - in the
spirit of getting something done last weekend I ripped through both
design and PCB layout in about 2 hours for the whole thing, and the
cliff jacks fit perfectly over one row of the Neutrik NRJ6 pins. If it
weren't for Neutrik's plastic mounting bosses requiring non-plated
holes, I could have even gotten away with a single layer PCB. But,
that's a story for another day.
As soon as I have the final jack decision made and the other two
boards designed I'll be putting up a web page on the whole ordeal. A
single system has 8 busses built into it, and there are three boards
that will be in the final design: a dual-group multiple/buss board
that can be cascaded to connect eight mult groups to eight busses, an
8-point direct buss board, and finally a buss access board that would
go in the rear of whatever synth cabinet this gets installed into. The
reason I want to keep the sleeve switched is rather than tying all the
sleeves to a common ground point, each buss will have its ground
reference tied to wherever the CV is being sent from. Almost like a
mini-star grounding situation.

that's about it for now. :-) More to come!
