Depends.  The easiest is when the deflection coil can be seperated from 
the transformer (you sometimes need to add a similar inductance).  
Otherwise you remove the coil from the tube to leave it in the circuit 
and add a second deflection coil for the horizontal _or_ you add 
another high voltage generator.  I remember the latter two cases fondly 
since all you needed were two similar TV sets that had different 
defects.  The first defect set was generally one were the HV isolation 
had broken down and thus no picture was generated anymore.  The second 
could be anything as long as the transformer was still salvageable.
