[sdiy-interim] New mult board design finished

While I was terribly bored and avoiding responsibility this
afternoon, I decided to design the mother of all mult boards. I've
long been inspired by the late Larry Hendry's Magic Bus, and wanted to
go one step further with a proper PCB, and give it more flexibility by
integrating a 5-way cascaded multiple setup into the mix. So, here's
how the thing works:
Each PCB has ten jacks on it, split into two groups of five
multiples. The first group is normalled to the second, so you can use
each board either as a single ten point multiple, or split into two
five point multiples by breaking the normal in the middle of the
chain. Where does the Magic Bus come in, though? that's the beauty of
this design. I used 20-pin 0.1" connectors on each side of the board
so you can cascade up to four boards together, each passing down their
two mult groups to the board previously in the chain. Four boards
cascaded produces eight mult busses which can hook into a board I have
yet to design, to interconnect the busses between rack cabinets.
I designed this thing for maximum flexibility, so I included some
jumpers on the board so you can disable the cascading multiples if you
prefer, as well as provided for both 1/4" Neutrik/Re-An and 3.5mm
Cliff jacks for either major format that requires mult panels. I left
off banana because they're stackable. All schematics/parts
lists/gerbers will be going up on my web site sometime next week,
after I flesh out the PCB some more. It's currently two layer, but I'm
only using the bottom layer for some very short runs, so I need to
balance out layer utilization. I can't go to a 1-layer board since to
get both 1/4" and 3.5mm jacks on the board each set had to go on a
separate side, but that's as complex as it got. I'll get you guys a
URL when it's up.
