No, because the holes are so tiny & close together, that the paint fills
the gaps.
Pretty well every sign that you see on metal (streetsigns, everything)
is screenprinted or else adhesive vinyl computer cut lettering.
One point for DIY metal screeners though, and that is that you really
need different ink for metal, it isn't the same as doing Tshirts.
The people who do my boxes, have an ink that they mix some kind of
hardening catalyst with, and then bake it as well.
I'm sure it would be possible to do it without baking, but they are
professionals, and that is what they do..
