Actually, the more I think about it, this will work for hobbyists. I
would not want to tour with it.
You could space the pin strips as needed to minimize capacitive
coupling.
You can get shorting jumpers with long handles.
If the patch board were a mezzanine board, you could use them like
the old Synthi presto patches. That is plug and unplug an entire
mezzanine patch board into a mother board containing the outside
world connectors of your choice.
