[sdiy] Precision power regulators for low noise circuits?

Adjustable regulators LM317 and LM337 have improved specs over fixed
voltage types.

The industry standard is uA723 or equiv. which has specs about 10
times better than LM7815/7915.

Virtually every commercial linear power supply is going to have
uA723s in it. Or they build the same circuit discretely.

Switching supplies are usually avoided for low noise designs, I am
sure there are exceptions.

Some regulars use a switcher followed by a linear stage for
efficiency and low noise, they are expensive.
