As was said prior.
The randomness of this format makes you look into topics that you would not
normally go after.
The density of the responses per topic creates a bandwagon effect and just
enhances the community aspect of this format.
Web forums are bloated and slow. I would rather filter my own mail on my
machine and be able to control things a little better
