I wondered when someone was going to make this sensible suggestion!

Honestly I can't see the problem.  It's so quick and easy to go through 
the messages on one's own local computer.  If you don't want to read 
them for a day or so simply select all and delete.  Yahoogroups and 
online forums are so slow and clunky to use by comparison.

In response to the trouble replying comment: simply hit "Reply to All" 
to reply to the list and sender (you can then delete the sender's 
address if you like but the mailing list and/or their email server 
should take care of this automatically).  To reply off-list you simply 
hit "Reply".
