[sdiy] speech synthesizer

Have you considered a speakjet chip? I've built one onto a carrier PCB that
has 8 trigger inputs that can be programmed with whole words or individual
speech parts. Its lots of fun and can be programmed quite a bit via a serial
PC interface quite easily.
I have on\off switches on the triggers at the moment but was considering
getting one of the highlyliquid midi\swicth outputs here
http://www.highlyliquid.com/ and using that to sequence the speakjet.

Cool, thanks! and to everyone who responded. I've
circuit-bent a Speak n Spell before, and that was a
pretty fun and easy way to play with speech synthesis.
Since it's also by Texas Instruments, and more
modern, the module I have probably isn't much better,
or different, now that I think about it. So maybe its
not worth the effort..
