That's a big debate. Personally, I don't like the "forced threading" 
of forums, and they can be slow and cumbersome to navigate.

It's nice that you can post downloads and images on forums, but free 
web space is readily available (Twango, etc.) so that's no so important.

There is an active DIY forum at electro-music.com, so you might want 
to check that out.
