Although it's straying off topic, there is an interesting video by
Michael Shermer where he demonstrates how much this contributes to
what we think we're hearing. He plays certain records that supposedly
have messages when you play them backwards. When they're played
backwards with no visual cueing of the words they are unintelligible.
When the words are shown on the screen, it's very easy to hear the
message.

Now, to keep this on topic. The video contains a dousing rod for a
certain substance made from a radio shack antenna AND there are
several synths and what looks like an o-scope in the video, but I
can't quite place them.
