[sdiy] Building rack-flightcases

I'm not quite sure if this subject fits in with "synth DIY", but it is 
definitely related....

I want to build a couple of 20U 19" rack flightcases to store my 19" 
gear (DIY and otherwise) in, but could need some pointers. I want to 
build one of the racks with a "top-loading" mechanism such as this:

I'd like to hear if someone here has built this sort of thing, on the 
list, or off the list if it's considered too off-topic.
