[sdiy] Boombox/Synth Mod

I don't know about the WSG, but the Sound Lab would be cool! Then you
could possibly run the tape outputs through the soundlabs filter and eg,
etc. You'd just need to build a little mixer circuit if you wanted to
use the sound lab osc's and the tape at the same time. And you'd have
to get everything to the correct levels.
I don't think there is anywhere to input anything into the WSG. It
just makes noises.
Then there's the issue of construction. You've got to make sure that
the pcb will fit w/ all the electronics that are already in the boombox.
I'd imagine that the circuitry for the tape is connected to everything
else, and doubt you'll be able to remove much if you want to continue to
use it's internal amp for the speakers, and the tape deck.

Subject: [sdiy] Boombox/Synth Mod

Hey all,

I'm glad to be here on this board amongst my
people :]
I've got a project in mind, to build a simple synth
instrument into a vintage boombox that I have, and I'm
wondering if there's any reason I couldn't use the
tape-deck's audio out as the "oscillator" input to the
synth circuit? Ideally, I'd like to be able to play
tapes and play the synth at the same time or
seperately, but also be able to modulate the taped
sounds via the synthesizer. I have some knowledge of
electronics, and synthesizers, but have never done any
circuit designing of my own. I'm thinking of using
the "weird sound generator" circuit from -

ST_SYNTH.html
as a starting point. Any input would be appreciated,

Thanks,
BR
