Infuriatingly, I only have the 1st ed of Jung's 555 book - and it doesn't
have this.

But, unless he is doing something exotic with the 3080 (as in that notorious
VCA) then the 3080 can be replaced by half a 13700.

Can you say what is happening in the circuit?
