[sdiy] Matched transistors and EFM circuits?

This is what I've READ, elsewhere. I appreciate the ongoing education,
but I'm certainly not here to nitpick. My understanding is that, for
performance, it's important to match the transistors in an expo
converter and that dual transistors perform better than a matched
pair. Also matched pairs should be placed physically close together.
That's about the limit of my knowledge on the matter.
