[sdiy] Futurelec Customer Service?

I find the main issue (as you have mentioned) is that they won't advise of a
delay while waiting for a part to come into stock until you contact them to
see where your order is. That said as soon as I enquire they respond quickly
and keep me updated on when the parts are expected and when the items ship.
So yeah if you expected to order and get mouser type notifications and
delivery times you probably are pretty disappointed :(
Yes Mouser is amazing with service but you pay for it, for parts I don't
need this week at a great price I don't think you can go past futurlec ;)
Also their postage is great unlike like the bloated courier charges that
some places insist on.
For pots lm394's and ca3080's at a quarter the price of anywhere else I'm
more than happy with them......just not if I need them ASAP I guess, in
those cases I usually go somewhere local or mouser etc.
Anyway while waiting on parts to come in on my last order I realised I
forgot to order some other parts and they happily added them to the shipment
before it came out ;)
I guess if you want items shipped out in 24 hours max and are willing to pay
the extra for the parts and shipping mouser etc are the go but for lots of
bang for your buck (if your cool to wait a bit) I don't think futurlec be
beat!
I've had delays with futurlec but they have always come through, sorry to
hear about the delays you've had.

Subject: [sdiy] Futurelec Customer Service?
Hi All,
Based on comments I've read here I just ordered some parts from
futurelec. I can't say that I've been happy with the service so far.
They charged my card instantly but did not update the status for two
weeks. When I emailed them to cancel the order as its status had not
changed, let alone shipped, they responded by telling me some part was
on backorder and that it will ship soon.
I've asked them to ship tomorrow without that part. I don't believe
that it's unreasonable to expect either notification of backorder by
email or a partial shipment WITHOUT charging my card for the
backordered parts.
My recent orders from Mouser and Electronics Express were shipped
promptly and I'm very satisfied. I'm hesitant to order from futurelec
again pending the outcome of this order.
