It's not as elegant as the MOTM pot bracket to be sure, but I add two
small mounting holes in the front panel and then use two 90 degree
brackets to mount the PCB perpendicular to the front panel. Given the
lack of vertical space in the frac format, this seems to work well.
It's a technique I copied from Metalbox and Paia modules. If you are
willing to do some extra work, you could follow the route used by the
good Prof. Richter of Wiard. The PCBs in his designs are mounted
parallel to the front panel, and front panel components such as jacks
and pots which are mounted to the PCB actually hold the PCB to the
front panel without the use of additional mounting hardware. This is
probably the most elegant solution in the frac format, as it
eliminates flying wires, mounting hardware. The drawback is, of
course, that the PCB has to be designed to work this way from the
beginning. So.... if you are planning to build modules from PCBs
available from CGS, MFOS, etc. etc., you're out of luck unless you
plan to create your own layouts and roll your own PCBs at home.
