[sdiy] Filter Frequency response measurement methods ?

I have not tried this myself, but there is a free Windows-based program
called RightMark Audio Analyzer that is used for measuring the frequency
response and other characteristics of sound cards. One of its several tests
uses a loopback cable to send test tones out the output of the card and back
into the input, thus measuring the characteristics of both stages
simultaneously (and in total). It would seem entirely feasible to insert a
filter in the loopback path to measure its characteristics. Of course you
would also be measuring the characteristics of your sound card at the same
time, but if you did the test without the filter first, you could see how
much influence your sound card will have on the test results.

The program is available here:

[I have no affiliation with the organization that produces this program;
it's just on my long list of things to try when I have some spare time.]
